KONG FAMILY MANSION, QUFU (China)
In Qufu, his hometown, stands the grave of Kong Fuzi, known to us as Confucius. Nearby is a temple and a 134,200 square foot mansion of 480 rooms in 152 buildings, where his family lived for generations (it is now a museum) and from which they once governed the largest private rural estate in China. The cemetery where he lies also holds over 100,000 of his descendants.
