THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS (Sri Lanka)

This UNESCO-inscribed natural area comprises a Wilderness Protected Area, a National Park, and a Conservation Forest. Here, rain forests reach an elevation of 8,200 feet above sea level. This ecoregion is home to several rare species of primates, and is the exclusive home of half of Sri Lanka's endemic flowering plants and 51% of its endemic vertebrates.
