NAUMBURG CATHEDRAL (Germany)
The Cathedral in Naumburg, Germany, most of which dates back to the 13th century, demonstrates the transition in style from late Romanesque to early Gothic. In the western "choir" are 12 outstanding sculptures of the cathedral's founders, works of the "Naumburg Master." Begun in 1028, the cathedral became Protestant at the Reformation.
