THE SACRED GROVE AT OSOGBO (Nigeria)
The Yoruba people of West Africa once maintained sacred groves at the edges of their cities. Most of these are gone, but this grove at Osogbo in Osun State, Nigeria--a site of worship of the goddess of fertility Oshun--has been restored with the help of an Austrian woman, Susanne Wenger.
