CATAL HUYUK (Turkey)
Catal Huyuk, SE of modern Konya, Turkey, has two mounds: the taller, eastern one contains 18 levels of Neolithic occupation (c. 7500-6400 BCE) with numerous artistic features. The western one is from the "Copper Age" (6200-5200 BCE). Together they demonstrate the transition from settled villages to urban development. Both were abandoned before the Bronze Age.
