THE ENNEDI MASSIF (Chad)
Through the ages, water and wind erosion have sculpted the sandstone mountains of Ennedi in NE Chad into a spectacular landscape of canyons, valleys, cliffs, and arches. Permanent water in the largest canyons supports the Massif's ecosystem: floral, faunal, and human. Thousands of rock art images adorn caves, canyons and shelters, one of the largest ensembles in the Sahara.
